Dear Delegates,

After several bargaining sessions with the Court System, we are excited to announce a landmark enhancement to our members’ benefits package: a comprehensive Paid Parental Leave (PPL) program for all members that will go into effect on April 1, 2024. This program underscores our commitment to supporting our members’ family needs, providing up to 12 weeks of fully paid leave, without charge to accruals to bond with a newborn, adopted, or foster child. The Union fought for and secured broad eligibility so that it provides benefits to gestational, non-gestational, adoptive, or foster parents with at least six months of service.  

The leave must be concluded seven (7) months from the date of the qualifying event, subsidizing an otherwise unpaid Childcare Leave, catering to the diverse needs and preferences of our members’ families. The application process was designed to be streamlined and the Union ensured that our members’ rights to appeal remain safeguarded. The application form is being creatived by OCA.
